A collection of local energy and utility assistance programs that help families save money through free kits, home energy assessments, bill discounts, and resources to reduce energy use and improve home comfort. Housing Resources Energy Efficiency Energy Saving Kit Program Eligible families can receive a free Energy Saving Kit with products designed to help reduce energy use at home. To apply, contact the DuPage County Department of Community Services and provide your utility account information to determine eligibility. If approved, the kit will be shipped directly to your home. After completing a free home energy assessment, households receive personalized recommendations to help reduce energy use and lower utility costs. Eligible families may also receive free or discounted energy-saving products like thermostats, showerheads, power strips, door sweeps, and pipe insulation. Eligibility is based on household income (up to 300% of the Federal Poverty Level). Customers approved for LIHEAP are automatically enrolled, while others can apply through their local assistance agency or ComEd’s enrollment process. Once approved, families receive a monthly discount on their ComEd electric bill for up to 24 months. Join us at Cantigy in Wheaton for our annual back-to-school event! An evening full of family events, entertainment, and school supply giveaways! Back To School Event Join us August 10th at Cantigny Park for a special event for West Chicago students and families. The event will feature a backpack giveaway, 70+ community resource partners, health fair, safety zone, and raffles. LOCATION : Cantigny Park Date : August 10th, 2026 Time : 5:30-7:30 pm Volunteers handing out backpacks at the Back to School Event Sign Up for Volunteering! We’re looking for volunteers for our Back-to-School Event! Volunteers will be assigned to different areas to help make the day a success. Everyone is welcome to attend. Preschoolers from Educare West DuPage, D33 students (preschool through 8th grade), and D94 students will receive backpacks with essential school supplies. Backpacks are limited. Entry to Cantigny is free on the day of the event. Please mention WeGo Together for Kids at the gate. Families may begin lining up as early as 4:30 PM. Action Required: Landlords: Document all lease actions; Tenants: Know rights. Reusable Screening Reports Effective Date: Jan 1, 2025 Applies to: Tenants, Landlords Tenants may submit free 30-day-old credit/eviction reports. Landlords must accept at no cost. Action Required: Use/update forms to accept reusable reports. Fee-Free Rent Payment Option Effective Date: Jan 1, 2025 Applies to: Landlords Landlords using fee-based portals must also allow check or cash payment with no fee.
