A Partnership Helping Families Thrive Through Literacy
The partnership between Literacy DuPage and D33 has created meaningful opportunities for adult learners to strengthen their English skills, build confidence, and become more connected to their community. Together, we are helping adults overcome barriers to education while creating a welcoming environment where learners feel supported and encouraged.
For many adult learners, attending English classes can be difficult due to work schedules, transportation challenges, and family responsibilities. One of the most important aspects of this collaboration has been the childcare services provided by D33. Without this support, many adults would not be able to participate in classes consistently or pursue their educational goals. By ensuring that children are cared for in a safe and supportive environment, parents can focus on learning, practicing English, and building skills that impact their daily lives.
The classes provide more than language instruction. Learners gain confidence speaking with teachers, doctors, employers, and their children’s schools. They develop skills that help them navigate everyday situations and become more engaged members of the community. Just as importantly, the classes create connections and friendships that reduce isolation and encourage continued learning.
This partnership demonstrates how collaboration can strengthen families and communities. When adults improve their English skills, the benefits extend beyond the classroom to their children, workplaces, and neighborhoods. Together, Literacy DuPage and D33 are helping create pathways to opportunity, independence, and lifelong learning.
We are grateful for this partnership and the shared commitment to supporting adult learners and their families. The impact of these classes continues to grow because both organizations are committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where adult learners and marginalized communities feel valued, empowered, and connected as they build language skills and opportunities for a stronger future.
